Ways my Spring maintenance list can help my homeowners insurance part 2.

By March 9, 2022Insurance

Last week we talked about how your Spring maintenance list can help your homeowners insurance, this week we continue.  Other than repairing and cleaning your gutters there are a lot of other Spring maintenance projects that can help your homeowners insurance.  First, you can start outside the house.  Spring and Summer months mean more time outside.  This could lead to a homeowners claim without a little Spring maintenance.  Did salt used for the snow and ice damage your driveway and walkways?  Are those paths now broken and uneven?  This could lead to a trip and fall which could lead to a homeowners insurance claim.  Repairing and resealing asphalt and concrete areas can help remedy that risk.  The winter weather could also damage your deck.  Inspect your deck and steps.  Again repair or replaced damaged wood and railings.

What other areas should be on my Spring Maintenance list?

The next area to take a look at is the hoses and units attached to the your home.  Spring maintenance here can not only help your homeowners insurance, it could help with your bills.  Has your air conditioning unit been serviced recently?  In other words a tune up could save you money on your energy bills.  After that, you can change your HVAC air filters.  In addition to your air conditioner, check air ducts as well as washing machine hoses and dryer vents.  A clogged dryer vent could cause a fire.  A leaking washing machine hose could lead to a huge homeowners claim.  Doing these Spring Maintenance items could save your homeowners insurance.
