Another tip is to be aware of crosswalks, knowing where a crosswalk is can save you from having someone unexpectedly run out in front of you. Be mindful of car doors. Opening a car door without looking could potentially hit an oncoming bicyclist or pedestrian. It also a good idea to learn proper hand signals so that you can know what a cyclist is doing.
