Happy New Year from your auto and home insurance company.

By December 29, 2021Insurance

Happy New Year from your auto and home insurance company.  New Year’s eve can be a night of excitement and fun, it can also be a night of danger.  It is estimated that about 40% of all fatal crashes on New Year’s involve a drunk driver.  A crash involving a drunk driver can impact everyone.  In other words, a drunk driving crash can affect the driver, the person hit and the person hosting the party.  If you are hosting a New Year’s eve party make sure that you are prepared.  Do not allow quest to leave intoxicated instead have your home prepped for guest or call guest an Uber.  The last thing anyone needs to close the year out is a terrible auto insurance or home insurance claim.  Drunk driving is not the only issue you have if you are hosting a NYE party.

What other issues could NYE mean for me and my auto and home insurance?

If you are having a party, alcohol can again affect your New Year and your auto and home insurance.  A slip and fall could lead to a home insurance claim.  A quick walk through of the house to tighten railings and secure loose rugs can prevent an insurance claim.  Likewise, if it is icy out be sure to put out salt on your driveway and walkway.  Also, make sure that all walk ways are clear and safe for walking.  Like other holidays, remember  your four legged friends as well.  A lot of people in the house could lead to a dog bite if you dog scares easily.  Fireworks or any party favors can make this situation worse as well.
