Falling leaves, rain and cooling temperatures don’t always mix.

Typically cooling temperatures and weather in the Atlantic can lead to increased rain.  Wet roads caused by increased rain can combine with dropping temperatures to lead to an auto insurance claim.  Be cautious driving on wet roads as the cooling temperatures can make these roads slicker than in the summer months.  Furthermore be on the look out for leaves.  Wet leaves on a roadway can be as slippery as ice.  Fall is a good time of year to check your tires for the upcoming colder temperatures months.  The Lincoln penny test is a way to determine if you could use new tires.

Increased Deer activity can lead to an auto insurance claim.

October to January are typically the times of year that Deer are most active.  This activity can be at its greatest during the times of dusk and dawn.  Be aware of deer and drive more cautiously during these months and these times of day.  An auto accident involving a deer is a comprehensive claim, but it can lead to a huge amount of damage.  Know your comp deductible for the fall months.

The sun rising and setting at different times can lead to an auto insurance claim.

The fall brings less sunlight than the summer months, therefore you are typically driving in the dark more often.  Driving in the dark or driving at times with glare can lead to an increased risk of an auto accident.  There is not much you can do for this risk except be a little more careful and leave a little more room between you and the car in front of you.

Remember school is back in session.

Kids being back in school can lead to an auto insurance claim.  Be careful of kids walking to and from school.  Slow down in school zones.  Limit distracted driving as well.  Finally, do not forget bus safety and abide by laws designed to keep kids, buses, and you safe.
